Charakterystyka kierunku:

Stacjonarne studia I stopnia na kierunku Fizyka Medyczna trwają 7 semestrów, kończą się zrealizowaniem pracy dyplomowej i uzyskaniem tytułu inżyniera fizyki medycznej w zakresie jednej ze specjalności: dozymetria lub elektroradiologia. Po drugim i trzecim roku studiów studenci odbywają obowiązkowe praktyki w placówkach służby zdrowia. Plan studiów obejmuje blok przedmiotów matematyczno-fizycznych z laboratoriami oraz bloki przedmiotów kierunkowych i specjalistycznych z zakresu medycyny i biologii. Studenci poznają m. in. metody fizyczne stosowane w biologii i medycynie, zarówno w diagnostyce jak i w terapii, a także podstawy inżynierii materiałowej w medycynie oraz budowę aparatury medycznej i jej zastosowanie. Zajęcia są prowadzone przez pracowników Instytutu Inżynierii Biomedycznej oraz Instytutu Fizyki Uniwersytetu Śląskiego, a także Śląskiego Uniwersytetu Medycznego, Narodowego Instytutu Onkologii im. Marii Skłodowskiej-Curie oraz Państwowego Instytutu Badawczego Oddział w Gliwicach.

Istotnym zadaniem kształcenia na kierunku Fizyka medyczna jest przygotowanie fizyków do pracy w zespołach interdyscyplinarnych (złożonych z lekarzy, biologów, chemików, techników) oraz do spełniania roli ekspertów w zakresie systemów zarządzania jakością w dziedzinach związanych z fizyką medyczną, systemów zarządzania, jakością techniczną procedur obrazowych, przygotowaniem i obsługą procedur niestandardowych. Absolwent jest przygotowany do samodzielnego rozwijania umiejętności oraz kontynuacji nauki na studiach drugiego stopnia Fizyki Medycznej oraz kierunków pokrewnych.

Perspektywy zawodowe (sylwetka absolwenta):

Studia na I stopniu kształcenia kierunku Fizyka Medyczna mają na celu jak najlepsze przygotowanie młodych ludzi do pracy w zawodach takich jak: inżynier medyczny, technik elektroradiolog.

  • Absolwent specjalności dozymetria kliniczna będzie mógł podjąć pracę w placówkach medycznych (kliniki, szpitale), placówkach rozwojowo-badawczych, podmiotach świadczących usługi dozymetryczne oraz ochrony radiologicznej, jak również przy instalacji i dystrybucji sprzętu medycznego.
  • Absolwent specjalności elektroradiologia jest przygotowany do obsługi aparatury radiologicznej, radioterapeutycznej oraz elektromedycznej. Będzie mógł podjąć pracę m.in. w placówkach radioterapii, zakładach radiologii, medycyny nuklearnej, pracowniach, EEG, EMG, EKG, audiologicznych, fizjologii klinicznej, inspekcji ochrony radiologicznej. Posiada umiejętności i uprawnienia do pracy na stanowisku technika elektroradiologii.

Admissions criteria for candidates with "new" Polish maturity exam (issued after 2005)

The qualification covers competition of maturity diplomas— results in the below-indicated subjects taken during the maturity exam in the written part are considered:

Mathematics

Higher of the scores:

– basic level x 1

or

– extended level x 2

Physics and astronomy

Higher of the scores:

– basic level x 1

or

– extended level x 2

Biology

Higher of the scores:

– basic level x 1

or

– extended level x 2

Weight  a = 40%

Weight b = 40%

Weight d = 20%

 

Method of calculating points (candidate's result):

WK = a x M + b x F + c x B

where:

WK – candidate's final result;

M – result in maths at the basic or extended level,

F – result in physics and astronomy at the basic or extended level (F=0 in case the candidate did not take an exam in physics and astronomy),

B – result in biology at the basic or extended level (B=0 in case the candidate did not take a biology exam),

Comments:    

  • The place on the ranking list created on the basis of the candidate’s result determines qualification for studies (WK).
  • If the number of candidates does not exceed the established limit of places, all candidates who obtained a result above 0 will be qualified.
  • If a candidate passed a given subject on the maturity exam on both levels, the result in the level which after multiplication through the relevant weight and converter was more beneficial for the candidate will be considered.
  • If a candidate did not take a given subject during the maturity exam, he or she will obtain zero points but may attend the qualification procedure, provided he or she obtained a result exceeding 0% in at least one subject (maths, physics and astronomy, biology) on the maturity diploma.

The candidate is obliged to submit the relevant Medical certificate regarding lack of health counterindications for the commencement of studies in the given programme.

Admissions criteria for candidates with "old" Polish maturity exam (issued before 2005)

Grades (results) obtained at maturity exams by candidates who passed the maturity exam before 2004 (the so-called old maturity exam), will be calculated proportionally to the scale of the new maturity exam in the following way:

Points in the following subjects are taken into consideration: maths, physics or physics and astronomy, biology passed by the candidate in a written form (if the exam was written) or in an oral form (no written part of the exam) placed on the maturity diploma and on the certificated issued by OKE.

After calculation of grades into points the candidate's result calculation (WK) as specified in the point for the new maturity exam.

Note:

  • If on the maturity diploma for the selected subject no level of the exam has been specified (basic or extended), it will be assumed that the level was basic.

The candidate is obliged to submit the relevant Medical certificate regarding lack of health counterindications for the commencement of studies in the given programme.

International Baccalaureate

The candidate who obtained the International Baccalaureate diploma, issued by the International Baccalaureat Organization based in Geneva, are subject to the same admission rules as holders of “new” Polish maturity exam. The results on the diploma of International Baccalaureate are calculated according to the following indicators:

In case the candidate does not submit the International Baccalaureate diploma, for the sake of qualification, the candidate is obliged to submit the certificate about the IB result issued by the appropriate institution and present the IB diploma immediately after its reception.

NOTE: If the admissions criteria for the programme assume additional entrance exams for the holders of “new” Polish maturity exams, the following factors are concerned during the qualification: result from IB diploma calculated according to the scale above and the results of the additional entrance exam.

European Baccalaureate

The candidate who obtained the European Baccalaureate diploma, issued by European Schools in accordance to the Luxemburg Convention of 21 June 1994 about the European School status, are subject to the same admission rules as holders of “new” Polish maturity exam. The results on the diploma of European Baccalaureate are treated as results of the extended “new” Polish maturity exams and are calculated according to the following indicators:

Secondary education certificate, or equivalent, obtained outside of Poland

The candidate who has obtained the secondary school graduation certificate (or another document) issued outside Poland may apply for studies. The document has to entitle the holder to undertaking Bachelor studies in the country in which the document was issued.

For candidates which are Polish citizens or apply for studies on the same rules as Polish citizens, the admission procedures defined in the programme’s description apply.

Foreign candidates applying for studies on other basis (tuition-paying, tuition-free, scholarships) are accepted for studies under regulations other than noted in the admission criteria. 
 

If programme’s admission criteria require mark in Polish language :
The candidates applying as Polish citizens or on the same rules as Polish, which finished secondary education outside Poland, will have the mark of that country’s language taken into account instead of Polish language mark.

Note: If programme’s admission criteria under “new” Polish maturity exam include additional entrance exams the results of BOTH entrance exam and secondary school graduation certificate are considered.
