When does the choice of major occur:  Second semester, commencement during the semester

Offered foreign language courses: selected by the students, in addition, course in a language from the region of the world related to the selected regional major in a given year

Characteristics of the programme:

International Polish Studies are devoted to the Polish culture in the context of cultures of European and non-European regions. The programme is addressed to people eager to learn about the world, wishing to find out about inter-cultural relations and skills in the culturally sustainable environment.

Culture and Communication in Business

  • Knowledge gained: Business ethics, business cultural predispositions, intercultural negotiation process conditions
  • Skills obtained: cooperation with international teams and managing them

Culture and Communication in Tourism

  • Knowledge gained: principles of organising trips and travels abroad, history of unique places in Poland and worldwide
  • Skills obtained: preparing a very interesting trip, making others interested in monuments and attractions of different places worldwide

Culture and Communication in Diplomacy

  • Knowledge gained: diplomacy protocol, principles of the order of precedence, presentation strategies and auto-presentations, diplomacy and consular law
  • Skills: mediations and cooperation with other diplomats, resolving each matter without conflicts

Culture and Communication in Business

  • Business negotiator, cultural consultant in international corporations, negotiation consultant, leader of an international team, leader of an international project.

Culture and Communication in Tourism

  • organiser of trips, tourist company director, employee of cultural institution, employee of state and private-owned tourist organisations, employee of city hall.

Culture and Communication in Diplomacy

  • Diplomat, culture consultant in an embassy or consulate, head of culture department of an embassy or RP consular, employee of Polish Institute, consultant in state-owned companies involved in international contacts on higher levels, employee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Admissions criteria

Admission is based on the assessment of required documents submitted by the candidate (upon prior registration in Online Application System).

In the case when the number of candidates exceeds the limit of places, admission is decided by means of the ranking list, created on the basis of the grade average in the Matura exam.

A foreign candidate applying for admission should know Polish language at the level which enables them to actively participate in university classes, as confirmed with a certificate or exam conducted by the School of Polish Language and Culture at the University of Silesia.
