Characteristics of the programme:
European Master in Lexicography are international studies led by the EMLex consortium which is composed of the University of Silesia and the following universities: Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, Université de Lorraine, Universidade de Santiago de Compostela, Károli Gáspár Református Egyetem Budapest, Universidade do Minho Braga, Università degli Studi Roma Tre, University of Stellenbosch, Institut für Deutsche Sprache and Universität Hildesheim. As a result of classes under the curriculum, the graduates know the rules of the lexicographer's workshop and are able to apply the most modern computer techniques in their work. They are prepared to work in scientific and commercial publishing companies in compiling traditional and electronic dictionaries, starting from developing concepts to its (also technical) realisation. The graduates of Germanic Studies: European Master in Lexicography (2nd cycle studies) have written and oral communication skills in English, German and generally in a third foreign language, for instance Spanish or French (the choice of language depends on the partner university where the student will stay for one semester). The education received distinguishes the graduate at national level as a philologist with lexicographic training.

The candidates who obtained the Bachelor’s degree diploma or Master’s degree diploma in language studies and the following degree programme: applied linguistics, with knowledge of German and English language (recommended level - at least B1) may apply for admission to studies.
Admission is competitive and based on diploma grades and interview concerning the interests related to the subject of studies.
In the case of candidates with undocumented knowledge of the above-mentioned foreign languages, the language level will also be checked during the interview.
