Characteristics of the degree programme and Offered major:

Philosophical Counseling and Coaching in the 2nd cycle studies of the practical profile, with a program profiled in the form of two majors:

        1. Individual Counseling and Life Coaching;

        2. Institutional Counseling and Business Coaching.

It is a study in practical philosophy, referring to the sapiential tradition of ancient philosophy (philosophy as the art of living, ethics as practical philosophy). Apart from philosophical and psychological knowledge, they provide skills in interpersonal communication, rational decision-making, a multi-faceted approach to problems, harmonising professional and personal life, supporting the development of the creative potential of individuals, and changing institutional structures. The studies teach responsible counselling and coaching work based on deep ethical awareness. The advantage of the studies is a large number of practical modules of workshop character (methodology of coaching, laboratory for improvement of interpersonal skills, mentoring in business, methodology of development training, psychology of change and motivation, ethical audit, transactional analysis, coaching laboratories with supervision, exercises in methodology of work of a philosophical advisor, training in creative thinking). The curriculum also includes professional practice in the field of business coaching and development training (in the Institutional Counseling and Business Coaching major) and the field of life coaching and philosophical consulting (in the Individual Consulting and Life Coaching major).

These studies refer to the trend currently present in English and German-speaking countries, where the graduates of philosophical faculties run the activity known as philosophical counselling, and the skills developed thanks to philosophical education are appreciated on the job market. It can be assumed that also in Poland, along with the progressing changes, trends present today in Western countries will be reflected. Moreover, the practical significance of knowledge, skills and social competencies developed during the designed studies will allow the graduates to respond creatively to current and future social needs related to such trends as such tendencies include: the progressive atomisation of life, breakdown of old traditions and patterns which intensifies the crisis in the axionormative sphere, tubulisation of death and old age which results in the exclusion of the elderly and ill, rapid changes in the labour market and the growing demand for acquiring new competencies, globalisation processes and multiculturalism, as well as the growing interest in the issue of conscious living, career planning and the development of the creative potential of individuals at different stages of life.

In Poland, the coaching industry has been developing for several years, which is reflected in the activity of companies providing coaching services to individual and business clients, as well as a wide range of courses and postgraduate studies in this field. Moreover, coaching circles in Poland have been noticing a growing need for professionalisation and standardisation of services, as evidenced by initiatives of the Polish Chamber of Coaching. Master's studies are part of a trend that takes care of high standards of preparation for professional activity in the coaching industry and the formation of foundations for ethically responsible activity in this field.
