Frequency of meetings in the case of part-time studies and days of the week when meetings take place: two sessions a month: Friday – Saturday – Sunday
Only the candidates who completed 1st cycle studies in Pedagogy: Care-Educational Pedagogy and Pedagogical Therapy or in Pedagogy: Social Rehabilitation and Treatment in Prison, which are the first step of special education teacher training, can apply.
If the candidate completed different 1st cycle studies with a teaching major, obtaining qualifications as part of 2nd cycle studies in Pedagogy requires completing a paid course covering differences in the curriculum of Pedagogy: Care-Educational Pedagogy or Pedagogical Therapy or Pedagogy: Social Rehabilitation and Treatment in Prison, respectively.
The aim of the studies is to expand graduates’ knowledge on education, and to prepare them to undertake 3rd cycle studies (doctoral studies). Graduates should be able to notice and independently solve scientific, educational, and rehabilitative problems, and write publications related to their field of study.
Information on the programme and available majors:
2nd cycle studies in Pedagogy are the second step of special education teacher training in the chosen major. Studies provide qualifications required to find employment in educational institutions (e.g. schools, youth educational centres, psychological and pedagogical counselling centres – both majors), family, work, and social policy sector (e.g. as teachers in children’s homes, family assistants in Social Welfare Centres – both majors) and criminal justice sector (e.g. in youth detention centres, juvenile shelters, penal institutions – Social Rehabilitation and Treatment in Prison). Students acquire knowledge and skills in sociology, psychology, and most importantly, in various subfields of pedagogy, which gives them an opportunity to find employment as teachers, diagnosticians, carers, therapists in boarding schools, care and education centres providing services to various groups of people (students, residents, patients and residents of various centres, convicts).
Admission is based on the assessment of required documents submitted by the candidate (upon prior registration in Online Application System).
In the case when the number of candidates exceeds the limit of places, admission is decided by means of the ranking list, created on the basis of the arithmetical mean of all grades in 1st cycle studies, in line with the following rules:
Only the candidates who completed 1st cycle studies in Pedagogy: Pedagogical Therapy or Pedagogy: Resocialisation Pedagogy, which are the first stage of preparation for the profession of special education teacher within the specific scopes, may apply for admission to Pedagogy degree programme.
In the case when the candidate completes a different teacher training programme in 1st cycle studies or completes pedagogy studies in a different scope, obtaining full qualifications at 2nd cycle studies in pedagogy requires making up for curriculum differences against payment in the field of pedagogical therapy or resocialisation pedagogy and penitentiary science, respectively
