Description

In the face of ongoing changes, the first-cycle degree programme titled Socio-cultural Animation with Cultural Education provides a multifaceted educational offer for future cadres for culture. The study programme takes into account proven content and forms of teaching, including:

1. the basics of philosophy, sociology (including the sociology of culture), pedagogy, culture in general, and contemporary culture in its most important phenomena and processes,

2. acquainting the students with the specificity of individual artistic disciplines (literature, theatre, film, art, music, dance), their reception and popularisation (also in institutional forms),

3. introduction to the media-related issues, and cultural heritage on a local, regional, national and European level.

At the same time, the courses that equip future animateurs and educators of culture with knowledge, skills and social competence needed in the cooperation with various entities (public, market, non-governmental organizations) and prepare them to participate in social and cultural projects related to local, regional, national and European development are also included in the programme. Various interests of students and their individual predispositions are taken into account and, consequently, practical and field classes, including creative camps and participation in artistic workshops (related to theatre, art, music and dance), are included to a greater extent than in classical education programmes.

A graduate of Socio-cultural Animation with Cultural Education programme has qualifications to:

• work in cultural institutions (cultural centres, institutions for the promotion of culture, such as educational departments, institutions developing creative activity among children, adolescents and adults, work with audience),

• work in cultural departments of local governments,

Admissions criteria

Admission process includes admission based on secondary school diploma grades and interview.

Stage I - Admission based on secondary school diploma grades

For candidates with NEW MATURA EXAM

The first stage of admission process is based on calculating the arithmetic mean of results obtained in the subjects taken in the written part of the Matura exam, whereby the advanced level result is multiplied x 2.

In the case of candidates submitting the Matura exam results both at the basic and advanced level, the more favourable result is taken into consideration in the admission process.

For candidates with OLD MATURA EXAM

In the case of candidates who passed the Matura exam (old Matura exam), the results in all Matura subjects taken in writing or orally are taken into consideration.

The Matura exam grades will be converted to percentage points in following way:

Matura exam until 1991

Matura exam after 1991

6 — 100 %

5 — 100 %

5 — 80 %

4 — 70 %

4 — 75 %

3 — 30 %

3 — 50 %

2 — 30 %

The final result of the candidate who passed the Matura exam is the arithmetical mean of all Matura exam grades converted to admission points.

Stage II - interview

The basis for the second stage of admission process is interview about cultural, social and artistic activities related to culture, carried out individually or in a group, under a society, foundation, organisation, institution or other types of social and/or cultural activities.

The presented actions may include forms such as volunteering, internship, practice, professional activities or individual involvement in social and cultural activities. They may be related to work of school interest groups, as well as artistic, sport, religious, educational, support groups, trade unions etc.

During the interview, a candidate may refer to the submitted documentation.

The interview is rated from 1 to 10 points.  To achieve a positive final result, the candidate must obtain at least 3 points.

The final result of candidate’s admission process is calculated in line with the below formula:

W =  Śr + Rk

where: W means candidate’s final result; Śr – average grade in the Matura exam; Rk – points from the interview.
