Overview of the programme and majors:
The Faculty of Science and Technology offers Master’s degree studies in Computer Science, which duration is 3 semesters. The graduate, exhibiting special proficiency in IT knowledge, used both in theoretical and practical aspects, is prepared to undertake a profession in the field of IT in various industries. Apart from the practical side, the graduate should have in-depth theoretical knowledge to carry out scientific research in the future, contributing to Computer Science development. The programme offer strengthens the relationship between education, applied research, and the socio-economic environment. The wide range of subjects to choose from provided to Computer Science students allows creating an educational path that suits students, their scientific interests, and professional plans. It fulfils the Strategy's assumption, which emphasises the optimisation of fields of study and curricula, considering the educational needs of candidates and students, the labour market, and modern education. Particularly noteworthy is the co-participation of employers in creating study programmes for Computer Science; thus, contributing to the construction of innovative education. Thanks to these practices, a graduate becomes competitive in the labour market. The studies also refer to the University's mission, particularly to its primary tasks, to shape ethical social attitudes in scientific work and everyday life.
The programme is accredited by the Polish Accreditation Committee, which guarantees studies at a respectable level and access to qualified academic staff.
The graduate is prepared to take up a job in various IT industry branches in Poland or abroad.
A graduate of 2nd cycle Computer Science:
1. Has a thorough knowledge and skills in advanced fields of computer science;
2. Has analytical and synthetic thinking skills allowing for a non-standard approach to solving various practical problems requiring analysis, creation or adaptation of advanced IT technologies;
3. Can construct information technology solutions based on mathematical models and assess, test, and secure those solutions;
4. Is aware of the importance and impact of IT professional activity and understands the importance of intellectual integrity;
5. Has an ability to present advanced IT content in speech and writing and to discuss it rationally;
6. Can independently expand and deepen their knowledge of current IT trends;
7. Has high qualifications and practical skills in information technology, making them competitive in the labour market.
Admission of candidates will be based on Bachelor’s or Master’s degree diploma grades in a degree programme in the field of engineering and technology, or in computer science in the field of natural sciences.
Admission to studies is decided by means of the place on the ranking list, created on the basis of the candidate’s result (WK), calculated in line with the below formula. If the admission limit is not achieved, all candidates with a result (WK) higher than 0 will be admitted.
Method of calculating points (candidate’s result):
WK = 2 x II + T
WK — candidate’s result,
II — Engineer's degree diploma grade in a degree programme in the field of information and communication technology (II = 0 when the candidate did not complete 1st cycle Engineer's studies in a degree programme in the field of information and communication technology),
T — diploma grade in computer science in the field of natural sciences, or a degree programme in the field of engineering and technology, other than a degree programme in the field of information and communication technology (T=0 when the candidate did not complete studies in the field of engineering and technology, or computer science studies in the field of natural sciences).
If candidates have the same WK result, the diploma exam grade will be taken into account to determine the place on the ranking list.
